In about a month, my WordPress blog Lianka in the US will become unavailable. It will just disappear. Like if it never existed.
It's probably sad, but that's my plan.
I decided to stop paying for ....
There are two things I had to pay for: hosting (an online “apartment” where my blog “lived” for 5 years) and a domain name (the online address of this “apartment”).
The truth is the expenses for my hobby are inadequate, in other words they are too high and not necessary.
I started blogging in January 2018 on the Google Blogger platform, where we are now.
I was writing and at the same time learning about blogging.
Many, many bloggers have said that the blog will look more beautiful and professional on the WordPress platform.
I decided to try, but first I talked to my husband. I already found out that the WordPress software was free but I had to purchase a hosting plan and domain name (www.name.com).
In fact, in the first year it was much cheaper. It was thoughtful.
But I lasted longer than 1 year.
5 years, more than 300 posts (in both languages).
I did everything myself: set up a blog, Google analytics, a domain name, and a bunch of plugins. I was proud of myself.
But the blog has not grown as much as I had hoped.
The reason might be a niche (or absence of it). There are some topics and niches that bring more traffic to your posts and blogs. Cosmetics, cooking, “how to do it” and so on… My blog was just “about me”.
Another reason (of not growing) may be not good enough writing skills. But I am still learning.
Also advertising could attract more readers/subscribers. But there was nothing to advertise, LOL.
Blogging has not become my part-time income. But it’s still my favorite hobby.
So, I am back to Google Blogger, and very happy to see you here.
It’s a free platform, much simpler than WordPress, with fewer features for making a blog look beautiful.
I know it doesn’t look nice on the phones, unless you turn your phone horizontally. There are more “I can’t do” when I create my posts, but it’s free.
It’s free until I decide to purchase a domain name. Maybe I will never do that.
I’m not asking you to subscribe, because I am not sure if “Raining dogs and blogs” is the name I am going to keep. Although I like it.
I know I don’t want to complicate my life by thinking of a new name again and changing all the settings I have already made.
I don’t ask you to subscribe but you can if you want.
You will not receive notifications about blogs in Russian. Russian and English blogs are separated now.
I tried to leave a comment. It’s very easy to do compared to WordPress blogs. So feel free to let me know your thoughts, it’s always interesting.
Let’s keep writing.
P.S. My LiankaintheUS.com is online until September 8th or so. You can look at it by typing www.Liankaintheus.com in your browser. Although I stopped publishing there about 6 months ago.
