Song about Me

I was going home yesterday, listening to music, my music, not Shopify and not the radio.

Since I got  a car with a dog in it, I've been making a playlist myself. For Yaris, I collected music on CD discs, and for Buick - on a flash drive.

So, I was listening to the song.

“Song about me”

This song was written in 1977. I was born in 1972.

Alla Pugacheva - the first performer was and is still very popular in Russia. Popular and loved.

Her songs were played at discos, radio and TV - everywhere. A-a-all these years.

I can't say that I grew up on her songs, but with them for sure.

Some of them I liked more, the others less.

I didn't like the “Song about me"…just a song I cannot easily dance to, LOL.

But, around 2011 or 2012, this song was performed by the A-Studio group.

And I’ve heard it. I’ve heard the words, the meaning.

I think that it happened not because of a different singer. It was just the right time…

The same with the movie (remember Shirley Valentine?). When I watched it for the first time I liked the movie and some funny  moments from it.

20 years later I watched the same movie but saw different things.

So, the song…I heard this song 20 years after the first performance.

Here is the video if you wish to see and listen.

And my simplified translation:

…”Someone is spreading rumors that I live without sorrows and worries, that I am the luckiest person in the world.

But I live just like everyone else, and I ask fate for happiness just like everyone else..

Don’t believe that I live like in paradise and the trouble bypasses me. Like everyone else, I get tired in the evening, And I'm sad and I cry sometimes”…

It's like this: I live in a prosperous America, I have a happy marriage, (as many people think) an easy job, I have a car, I can afford a vacation.

But in fact, I'm the same as everyone else.
